All action, Alexis Sanchez was never going to introduce himself to Old Trafford in any other way.

Whether Sanchez can give Manchester United the shot that will eventually see them breathe the same rarefied air as Manchester City remains to be seen.

But Sanchez always makes thing happen, magically or mischievou­sly, delightful­ly or deviously.

And, boy, does he know how to win a penalty, always a useful tool for any team to have in its box.

On his home debut, Sanchez gave the sort of dynamic performanc­e that will inevitably make him a very popular United figure.

After winding down in his latter days at Arsenal, it is no wonder he has plenty in the tank when other needles are nudging red.

Even so, this was a remarkably energetic display – even by his standards.

Energetic and robust, considerin­g he got what some might see as a bit of a kicking.

After a subdued start, he was perpetual motion, a non-stop source of creativity and infringeme­nts.

He may take the odd, unaided tumble, but no one draws bona fide fouls quite like Alexis.

He lured substitute Michael Hefele into his web in the second half, it was a clear penalty – and that was that. Game over.
