Israel strikes in Syria after jet crashes

-

ISRAEL struck a dozen Syrian and Iranian targets yesterday after one of their fighter jets crashed.

According to reports from the military the aircraft came under fire from Syrian air defences.

The confrontation was the most serious between arch foes Israel and Iran since the start of the civil war in Syria in 2011.

The two pilots parachuted to safety and were taken to hospital, one with “serious” injuries.

It is believed to be the first time Israel has lost a jet in the Syrian conflict.

Israel was carrying out strikes after the launch of an Iranian drone into Israel which was intercepted.
