‘Heat baccy’ gadgets OK for smokers
NEW heat-not-burn smoking alternatives could be “considerably less harmful” than cigarettes, health chiefs have declared.
But the devices, including the IQOS and glo, were found to be “more harmful than e-cigarettes”, in the study by Public Health England.
The products, which are popular in Japan, warm tobacco rather than burn it, which manufacturers say makes it less harmful.
A spokesman for IQOS makers Philip Morris welcomed the report.
He said e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products had “clear potential to be less harmful alternatives” for smokers.
