Small garden’s not looking for lawn

-

What’s good instead of a lawn for a small patch in my garden? I don’t need to walk on it. – Jill, Glasgow DAVID: Mind-your-ownbusiness (Soleirolia soleirolii), Scotch moss (Sagina subulata “Aurea”) or Smooth rupture wort (Herniaria glabra) are all good grass alternatives. They generally need no maintenance, but may need containing borders to keep them from spreading.

A chamomile lawn is also brilliant – you will enjoy the wonderful fragrance.
