MINNOWS WASHED UP

-

BRORA RANGERS and Cove Rangers failed to become the first Highland League side to reach the sixth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup.

Cove lost 3-1 to Ladbrokes Championship side Falkirk, and Brora were 4-0 losers at Premiership outfit Kilmarnock.

Killie took until three minutes before the break to lead through Aaron Tshibola, the midfielder finishing from close in.

Kilmarnock’s second came from Kris Boyd on 58 minutes, Eamonn Brophy added a third after 76 minutes and Stephen O’donnell made it 4-0 with eight minutes left.

Alex Jakubiak gave Falkirk the lead at Harlaw Park with a goal after two minutes but Cove’s Mitchel Megginson replied within a minute to level the scores.

The Bairns went back in front just after half-time with Craig Sibbald and Jakubiak grabbed his second minutes later.

James Forrest’s hat-trick fired Celtic through on a sad day after the death of former player Liam Miller. The Hoops beat Partick 3-2 at Celtic Park, as the visitors’ Kris Doolan and sub Conor Sammon found the net.

Motherwell beat Dundee 2-0 with goals from Craig Tanner and Curtis Main.

Kyle Lafferty scored twice as Hearts won 3-0 against fellow Premiership side St Johnstone.

Morton won the battle of the Championship with Dumbarton 3-0 after goals from Frank Ross, Jack Iredale and Bob Mchugh.
