WOMAN HELD AFTER 3-YR-OLD ‘ASSAULTED’
Fears for ‘critically ill’ girl as suspect arrested over incident in house
GARDAI were last night questioning a woman over a suspected serious assault on a three-year-old girl.
The tot was understood to be critically ill in hospital after being found by emergency services at a South Dublin house.
A witness said: “A doctor arrived and the child was taken away on a stretcher.”
The woman in her 40s was arrested at the scene in Aubrey Grove, Shankill.

She was last night being questioned at a South Dublin Garda station.
A witness told the Irish Sunday Mirror: Gardai in South Dublin “We were standing outside wondering what was going on.
“A doctor arrived at the scene and the child was taken away on a stretcher.
“Two of the gardai there were visibly shaken. One was very upset. Our attention was first drawn when a number of unmarked cars went speeding by.
“Then the armed gardai arrived and started asking everyone if there was a firearm in the house.

“About 10 more gardai cars arrived in the space of five minutes along with the fire brigade, paramedics and the National Ambulance Service.
“The child was put in the ambulance and got a gardai escort off to hospital.”
A neighbour said: “This is tragic. It’s such a quiet area. Myself and my wife were upstairs and we noticed a lot of Garda activity so we knew it was probably a bit more serious than a break-in.”
