Construction prices ‘threat to projects’
A SHARP rise in construction tender prices could put private and public building projects at risk, it has been warned.
New figures from the Society of Chartered Surveyos Ireland show prices will rise by 7% this year, returning them to rates during the boom.
SCSI director general Aine Myler described the hikes as unsustainable.
She said: “These are significant rate increases and are simply not sustainable in the medium to long term.”
The SCSI has been compiling an index of tender prices in excess of €500,000 for 20 years.
