MY PERFECT SUNDAY
I’d start with a leisurely breakfast at the Grand Hotel in Calcutta.
They have an extraordinary array of fresh fruit, yoghurts and nuts. My partner Trilby James and I like to read and luxuriate as we eat, meaning breakfast usually turns to lunch.
Next I’d be like Captain Kirk and speedily transport myself back to Britain so I could go for a drive in one of my four cars. I’m a petrolhead and I always watch the Grands Prix.
My Porsche Carrera GTS is nicknamed HTK after my dad, who fostered my love of cars, and I have a 1969 Mercedes Pagoda 280 SL named after my mum, Eunice Evelyn.
She passed away from a stroke in 1999 aged 80 and I volunteer for the Stroke Association in her memory.
I’d drive one of the cars down to Hampton Court Palace in Surrey and we’d meet my brother-in-law Alex for a walk along the river Thames. It’s a favourite spot as it is filled with memories of mum. She loved the Flower Show.
