Kids’ racing car set pulled over fire risk

- BY AENGUS O’HANLON

SMYTHS Toys Ireland is recalling a popular children’s car game as it might pose a blaze threat.

The shop has pulled the Furious Challenger Electric Racing Set off their shelves because of “several incidents” reported regarding the plug/charger.

They have asked anyone who bought one to return it for a refund – and to keep the recalled toy “away from children”.

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission website warns: “Smyths Toys has been made aware of several incidents.

“In some occasions the plug was smoking/ melting/exploding.”

The site stressed the recall affects batch number 1706 only.
