4.4 UK quake hits students, TV and footie
THE UK’S biggest earthquake in 10 years rocked Wales yesterday but no damage was reported.
Its 4.4 magnitude epicentre was located just outside Swansea at 2.30pm, but tremors were felt from Liverpool to Croyde, North Devon.
Swansea Uni buildings were evacuated and social media wobbled but, apart from a TV falling over in Merseyside and horses bolting in Devon, the UK emerged unscathed.
Actor Michael Sheen’s dad Meyrick recorded the drama in Baglan, South Wales saying: “It felt like a massive explosion.”
Port Talbot FC halted its game, tweeting: “Earthquake in area. Incredible.”
A 5.2 magnitude quake in Lincolnshire in February 2008 was the last big one.
