Euromillions money goes West as two lucky punters scoop €500k

- BY EDEL HUGHES

THE West woke up to good news yesterday as it was revealed the winning Euromillions Plus tickets were sold in the region.

Two lucky players scooped an incredible €500,000 each in Friday night’s draw.

The winning tickets were sold in Castlebar, Co Mayo, and Barna, Co Galway. They are the sixth and seventh Irish Euromillions Plus winners this year.

One of the tickets was bought in the lucky Garryduff XL Store on Pound Road in Castlebar.

The shop hit the headlines in July after selling a winning Euromillions jackpot ticket worth €29million. Store co-owner Rosie Kumar said: “Lightning really does strike twice. I would never have expected to have sold another significant Euromillions winning ticket so soon after selling the winning ticket last summer.” The second golden ticket slip came from just 83km away in Clarke’s Supervalu in Barna. Store manager Leonard Fay added: “The team is delighted.” Shop in Co Mayo
