Shirley’s a woman on a mission

Garbage singer Shirley Manson reckons 2018 is a terrible year for women. The 51-year-old, who picked up the NME Icon award, tells me: “I don’t think that us all discovering that one-third of our women across the globe are subjected to sexual assault and domestic violence... that doesn’t feel like a good time to me. “That feels like a heartbreak, and is something I hope as a nation and as a globe we try to take serious steps to try and counteract. I hope that all genders will come together and make this a fight that we can win.” Respect.
