The Collector

-

Fiona Cummins Pan, out Thursday

Readers left looking over their shoulder after Cummins’ supremely creepy debut Rattle can rejoice, as her follow-up is equally macabre and just as gripping. The Bone Collector is still on the loose and while Jakey – the boy he kidnapped – escaped, hopes are fading that his other captive, five-year-old Clara, will be found alive. But gutsy DS Etta Fitzroy will push herself to the limits to save the child. Cummins has a gift for imbuing the everyday with menace. With new characters joining the cast, and a tightly constructed plot, it’s a gloriously gruesome ride.
