UL triumph in Fitzgibbon

GOALS from Jason Forde and Pat Ryan saw UL crowned Fitzgibbon Cup champs for the second time in four years as DCU failed to win the title at the first time of asking.

A Patrick Curran penalty and nine points from Donal Burke kept DCU in touch, but a powerful third quarter from Gary Kirby’s (above, with John Mcgrath) side proved decisive. Sub Ryan struck their second goal seven minutes from time, and although Conor Burke got one back for DCU late on it too little.
