On me Ed! I beat Big C at age of 8

-

Sporty Edward FOOTIE-MAD Edward Garside will never forget his eighth birthday – the day he was diagnosed with leukaemia.

He recalls: “I didn’t feel right. I had red marks on my legs and was extremely tired. I had a series of tests and remember being told I had acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. I was scared.”

Edward, from Telford, Shrops, had intense treatment for 10 months and ongoing care for a further two years.

Now 18, he says: “I am very happy and healthy. I’m back playing football and will never take for granted the feeling of running on the pitch.”
