Applause for football boss hit by scandal
Dario Gradi A FOOTBALL boss linked to paedophile coach Barry Bennell got a standing ovation at a dinner.
Dario Gradi emerged from a 14-month exile to attend the testimonial for a Crewe Alexandra FC colleague last month.
Gradi, 76, was suspended by the FA in 2016 amid an inquiry into historical sexual abuse led by Clive Sheldon QC, which has yet to deliver its findings.
Gradi, Crewe’s director of football, was manager when Bennell, 64, abused youth players. A police probe found he knew nothing of Bennell’s crimes.
He has also denied claims he tried to “smoothe over” a complaint against former Chelsea chief scout Eddie Heath in 1974.
There is no suggestion Gradi abused minors. DHL didn’t deliver
