Sex brute freed to live in a tent
A HIGH-RISK sex offender has been released from prison to live in a tent.
The move was revealed by an official inspection report, which warned that the set-up “threatened public protection”.
Inspectors also found that male staff at the same mixed jail could see CCTV footage of female inmates in showers and toilets.
The sex offender was freed from HMP La Moye on Jersey with no formal supervision. He was given the tent after refusing
La Moye prison charity housing and set up camp on the island.
Prison governor Bill Millar said he was “subject to monitoring”. He added that he hoped CCTV in showers and toilets could be obscured so only heads and lower legs were visible.
