Gary runs on empty

GARY ANDERSON raced through to the last 16 of the Coral UK Open – in front of an empty arena.

The Scot took just 19 minutes to blow away Kettering’s Ricky Evans 10-3 at Butlins Minehead.

But his quickfire victory almost went unnoticed after the PDC closed the event to fans because of snow.

The bookies’ favourite, PDC World Champion in 2015 and 2016, was 5-0 up after just 7mins 5secs.

Evans, regarded as the quickest thrower on the circuit, fired a 127 checkout to get it back to 5-2, but never got any closer.

“Ricky throws so fast, I’m sweating,” said Anderson. “But that’s how darts should be played. We both get on with it.”
