Quigg way to fame in Tinseltown
SCOTT QUIGG knows there will be no time for comedy in the world’s movie capital next Saturday if he wants to become a two-weight world champion.
The former WBA superbantamweight belt-holder faces WBO featherweight champ Oscar Valdez in LA.
And he said: “The last two performances — against Viorel Simion and Oleg Yefimovych — were probably the two I enjoyed the most in a long time.
“But this is a massive opportunity and becoming a two-weight world champion would probably be the biggest achievement of my career.
“We shared the ring and had some sparring last year when I was preparing for Simion. If those four or five spars are anything to go by, then the fans are in for a real cracker.
“It’s a voluntary defence, so they have decided to pick me for a reason, but I’m very confident of winning.
“It’s a fight that really excited me — he brings danger and he’s probably hitting his peak. But there are chinks in his armour.”
