Eubank Sr backs ‘art’
RING legend Chris Eubank Sr has defended boxing in the aftermath of Scott Westgarth’s death.
Eubank had more worldtitle fights than any other British boxer – 24 – but Michael Watson was seriously injured during a 1991 rematch with him.
And Eubank was around another ring tragedy two years ago when Nick Blackwell was seriously injured after a fight with his son, Chris Eubank Jr.
Eubank Sr said: “Boxing is a beautiful sport, an art and it taught me manners and respect, not to bully, and integrity.
“The objective is to score points by striking an opponent and incapacitate them for 10 seconds – not a lifetime.”
