WHYTE: AJ SAYS HE WANTS A REMATCH

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

ANTHONY JOSHUA has told his old foe Dillian Whyte that he is ready for a heavyweight rematch.

The IBF, WBA and IBO champion takes on WBO king Joseph Parker in Cardiff on March 31.

A week after Whyte – who he beat in December 2015 – faces Lucas Browne in London. But Joshua has already sounded out the 29-year-old over a second dust-up and Whyte admits it’s a battle he’d relish.

Whyte said: “I bumped into AJ at a fight at the O2 on February 3.

“He was talking about the rematch and I said, ‘Listen, you win your fight, I win my fight and then we can talk seriously about a rematch’. It was him who mentioned it. I said, ‘I’m game, I’m always ready to rock. Let me focus on this fight, I’ll get the fight out of the way, and then, if you’re serious, we’ll sit down and have a talk and then we’ll see’.

“With me and him, it doesn’t matter about winning or losing, we just want to hurt each other.”

If Joshua beats Parker, then he will be one fight — against Deontay Wilder — from becoming undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.

But Whyte said: “If he lost the world titles tomorrow and the next 10 fights, I’d still fight him.”

So would anything be better than taking all the belts from Joshua?

“If I took them off him and we had a rematch – and then I beat him again,” added Whyte.
