A painful defeat for Con men

- BY JOHN FALLON

CONNACHT suffered an agonizing defeat in South African when Cheetahs bit them in the final minute of the match.

Kieran Keane’s men looked set for a famous win when they led by two points going into the closing stages of this PRO14 clash at Toyota Stadium.

But Connacht coughed up a penalty in a lineout and were made pay when Cheetahs out-half Niels Marais steered over the winner from out on the left.

It was a cruel outcome for a Connacht side who looked set for a second away win in a row, having emerged victorious in Treviso last weekend.

Matt Healy scored twice and Eoin Griffin also crossed for Keane’s side, who were desperately unfortunate not to become the second away winners at the Toyota Stadium this season after an excellent second-half display.

With Sean O’brien and John Muldoon in brilliant form for the westerners, they has earlier worked their way back from a 10-0 deficit to lead by nine points after an hour.
