that won them an astonishing Premier League title in 2016.

His form earned him an England cap and a new deal at the King Power worth £100,000 a week that runs until June 2020.

Vardy has a major supporter at Goodison – his former Foxes’ colleague Steve Walsh who is now the director of football at Everton and was responsible for Leicester signing the player for £1million in 2012.

Everton have been chasing a forward all season, after failing to land a suitable replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

The lack of goals in the Everton team has led to questions about the future of boss Sam Allardyce, who only joined the club in November on an 18-month deal.

If Allardyce was sacked he would be in line to pick up a £6million pay-off — but his backroom staff will only get three months’ salary.

It is believed Allardyce’s contract would have to be paid in full if he keeps the Merseysiders in the Premier League.
