Southgate Pole halt

ENGLAND boss Gareth Southgate faces another international tug of war – this time over Burnley star James Tarkowski.

Southgate has already held crucial talks with Manchester United midfielder Scott Mctominay in the knowledge that the 21-year-old also qualifies to play for Scotland through his grandparents.

Now Southgate, who is considering calling up defender Tarkowski, 25, for the friendlies later this month against Holland and Italy may have to act fast to get his man, with Poland also chasing his services.

The former Brentford player qualifies for the Poles due to having a Polish grandfather.
