We’re not out of the woods yet

-

THE big freeze might be coming to an end – but don’t be fooled as we are still not out of danger.

A major thaw has started and we’re set to be hit with flooding and heavy rain showers as well.

Treacherous driving conditions are causing chaos on the roads as pools of slush and ice leave surfaces in dismal states.

But temperatures hovered around freezing overnight meaning everyone still needs to be careful.

Dublin and other parts of the country were belted with a deluge from rising seas – and we could see more of it in the coming days.

Those living in coastal areas should make sure they have sandbags to hand and take precautionary measures.

Some parts of the country are still without power, so vulnerable members of our communities need to be looked after.

Torches, a healthy supply of food and other essentials are still as important as they were during the past week.

Make sure the elderly have enough food for the coming days and are not left on their own for too long.

What we have witnessed in the past few days has been anything but normal and the aftereffects will be felt for some time.

Storm Emma’s damage and devastation has had a big enough impact on us already.

The last thing we need is a tragedy.
