Easing burden of awful illness
IT’S staggering to think 4,000 people develop dementia in Ireland every year.
But despite over half a million of us having a family member with the illness, the study shows most do not fully understand it.
Dementia is a terrible illness that can leave sufferers and their loved ones feeling alone and isolated within their communities.
And although there is no cure, research has shown there are ways to fight it – and live with it – at least for a time.
We must be tolerant of those with this dreadful condition and offer them all they help they need.
