Mum in labour rushed to hospital by gardai
A WOMAN found herself going into labour when the worst of the storm was hitting the country.
At 9:15pm on Thursday, Sinead Carroll and her partner James Coyne knew they had to get to the hospital.
After a failed attempt to get an ambulance to their Co Kildare home, the local gardai in Naas stepped in. Officers Shane, John and Alwin collected the couple in their 4x4 Garda car and brought them to the local hospital.
Paramedics Fiona and Breffny then transported the couple the 32km journey from Naas Hospital to the Coombe in Dublin.
Sinead and John welcomed their little girl Eala Belle, weighing 8lb 8oz, on Friday. Taking to Facebook, John thanked the gardai and the paramedics “who braved the weather to help deliver our beautiful baby girl #unsungheros #notenoughrecog ni ti on# forever grateful “. He added: “What a crazy 24 hours...” And sharing the post the Naas gardai joked: “And we didn’t insist on the name being Ford Ranger!! Welcome to the world Eala Belle.”
