Foster slams Sinn Fein over North crisis
DEMOCRATIC Unionist leader Arlene Foster has accused Sinn Fein of trying to render the North dysfunctional.
Addressing party faithful at the DUP’S spring conference in Ballymena, Co Antrim, Mrs Foster said her former partners in devolved government are seeking to sow division.
In an increasingly acrimonious war of words, Mrs Foster said the prospects of an imminent return to power-sharing were not promising.
She added: “What are Sinn Fein delivering for our people? The answer is short and simple – absolutely nothing except division and dysfunction.”
She reiterated DUP support for a shadow Assembly that would give local politicians a role in scrutinising decisions in Westminster in the absence of devolution.
Mrs Foster said: “If we are to preserve the union we have to focus on defying our opponents by making Northern Ireland work for everyone.”
