Benson: I’ve cystic fibrosis but it does not have me

INSPIRATIONAL Julian Benson opened up for the first time about living with cystic fibrosis.

The Dancing With The Stars judge said it “doesn’t define who I am”.

Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show on Friday, Benson hailed his mother for making him feel like everyone else.

He added: “I have CF but CF doesn’t have me.

“It doesn’t define who I am. I really mean that and I put that down to my mum. I felt like any other child. I was encouraged to do everything I wanted to do. I wanted to dance. “I was always dressing up. I was all about music. Music was my medicine.” The 60-year-old, left, explained how he supported his mum throughout her battle with lung cancer. He said: “Right to the end I cared for her and it was the most magical, best thing I’ve ever done.”
