Sarah spent St Patrick’s Day in complete silence to observe the customs in Bali because it fell on the same day as their New Year. She added: “There was no work, no lights on. I was in a hostel for 24 hours – the most alternative Paddy’s Day ever.
“I turned off my phone and saw so many stars in the sky.
“I see all these digital nomads and they’ve their heads in their laptop the whole time, editing and uploading content. I’d rather live in the moment.”
Sarah’s advice is to study the news for the destination you want to visit, as well as reading backpackers’ blogs and contacting people on Instagram for tips. She said: “If I see a photo of an amazing place I immediately start to think about how I can get there. Nowadays everywhere is accessible.
“I probably would like to have kids but it’s not a big worry right now. I’d like to do this for at least a couple more years. It becomes a lifestyle.”
