BOAT RACE

CAMBRIDGE beat Oxford to win the 164th men’s Varsity boat race on a gloomy River Thames yesterday.

The light blues’ boat quickly pulled ahead at the start and never wavered over the 6.8km course crossing the line nearly four lengths clear.

Cambridge cox Hugo Ramambason said: “Every other race here, I’ve felt so nervous, but I felt really calm.”

Cambridge women (above, with the men) won their race by seven lengths.
