Loch: Sean is the key
THE hero of Burnley’s last big European adventure is backing Sean Dyche to lead the Clarets to glory on foreign fields again — more than half a century later.
Harry Potts was the Clarets manager who last took them into continental combat back in 1966-67 — and striker Andy Lochhead scored six times in a run to the quarter-finals of the Inter Cities Fairs Cup.
Now Burnley are in pole position to grab a ticket to the Europa League qualifiers — if the FA Cup winner finishes top-six.
Lochhead, 77, said: “It’s incredible to think that was the last time we were in Europe. Hopefully, European nights will return to Turf Moor next season.
“And it’s all down the manager – he’s been a great capture for the club.
“Like Harry Potts, Sean Dyche enjoys taking on and beating the big boys.”
