Becks at full speed in Miami

- BY JOHN RICHARDSON

DAVID BECKHAM will be basing himself in Miami over the coming months as he puts maximum effort into his new football club franchise in Florida.

While his family will remain in England, the former England captain will be putting in the hard yards so that his Miami footballing adventure is up and running next year — in readiness to enter Major League Soccer in 2020.

Becks is now looking to entice a top manager and world-class players to help fulfil his Stateside vision.

“I want Miami to be the best in the MLS,” insisted Beckham.

Stellar managers, including Carlo Ancelotti, Bruce Arena and Zinedine Zidane are in his sights, along with players such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

The biggest problem so far is finding the best site for a 25,000-capacity stadium for his so-far unnamed team.

Beckham and his backers, who include American Idol creator Simon Fuller, have secured some land in the Overtown area of the city, but it’s not ideally situated and has potential parking issues.

Beckham plans a number of prestigious friendlies in 2019, and already has some of the game’s biggest icons on speed dial, ready to tempt them to join him.

Out-of-work Ancelotti, 58, is a serious managerial target, the pair having worked together at Paris Saint-germain and forged a close relationship.

Beckham is also close to his former LA Galaxy boss Arena, 66, who is now on the sidelines after resigning as USA coach.

Beckham considers Real Madrid coach Zidane, 45, a good friend after the two played together in Spain.

On the playing front, Ronaldo, 33, could be tempted to move to Miami, as his Real Madrid era draws to a close, and Rooney, 32, has often talked about finishing his playing days in the MLS.
