Jose: I can be a cup star

- BY HECTOR NUNNS

BRIGHTON winger Jose Izquierdo hopes that helping to topple France will earn him a World Cup spot with Colombia.

The 25-year-old came off the bench for just a third cap with 13 minutes to go at the Stade de France in Paris.

And he made an instant impact, winning a penalty smashed in by Juan Quintero to seal a 3-2 comeback win for the south Americans, from 2-0 down.

Izquierdo said: “At this moment it has to be the best night of my life. It was only the second time I was selected for Columbia, last summer I joined up for two games.”
