Jake’s ready to join the A-twist

IT’S FINAL COUNTDOWN TO DANCING GLORY Judge Loraine tips singer for Hollywood but says all contenders are great

DANCING With The Stars judge Loraine Barry has told how singer Jake Carter is going all the way to Hollywood.

Barry, 53, has won the world title in ballroom dancing seven times and said the Liverpudlian has got what it takes to make it as a global superstar.

Tonight the pop star will battle it out in the final against actress Deirdre O’kane and GAA star Anna Geary to take home the Glitterball Trophy.

Loraine told the Irish Sunday Mirror: “I think anyone out there can see Jake has huge potential to go all the way.

“When you look at Jake you think is this the rise of a superstar? He’s young, vibrant, a good looking boy and more than anything he’s full of fun.”

The Dubliner who lives in London said all the final acts deserve to be there.

She added: “This is also going to add to Anna’s CV, she’s a great sports presenter and then to go out and dance with that competitiveness is wonderful.

“Deirdre is a tremendous actor and has that comic side to her as well, last week she did a fabulous number to the Cranberries.

“She’s going to be 50 on Sunday, she’s made the final and congratulations to all of them.”

Plagued by light-hearted controversy week-in-week-out the dance pro said water cooler talk is par for the course.

She added: “Every week everyone is looking for something to talk about so I’m not surprised at all about the odd bit

of controversy.” Commenting on why she chose to save Jake and not Erin in the dance-off she said: “I know that in the early part of last Sunday I did mark Erin a nine and I marked Jake an eight and that’s what I truly believed in that moment of time.

“But when it came to the dance-off, where you’re dancing for that spot in the final – I remember not only watching it but feeling it, Jake fought for it, he put extra in.

“Wherever he could do something he did it, but with Erin I just didn’t get that and that is the reason I made it very clear. “I really admire Erin because she danced her way out of every dance-off.

“I think it’s going to be a great final, every couple deserve to be there in the own right, they’ve worked so hard.

“Are some better than others? Probably. But it all depends on the dance that you get as well.”

Tonight the finalists get to choose their own number and they’ll also be given a dance by the judges.

As for the recent controversy about the show being tougher on the girls, Loraine said: “When a man is dancing, he’s got a professional female dancer in front of him that he has to support so if you tip the scale it can be harder for the males.

“But then again the women have to wear heels so really that’s tough to contend with too.”

Jake fought for it, he put extra in but with Erin I just didn’t get that LORAINE BARRY ON WHY SHE BOOTED ERIN OFF
