CORK dance act RDC were crowned the first winners of Ireland’s Got Talent last night.

After an electrifying performance the group, aged 12 to 22, bagged a €50,000 prize and their own TV show.

Moments after the win was confirmed their delighted teacher Billy Jean Sargent said: “Oh my goodness, thank you so much.

“The standard of talent and dance in this country is phenomenal, don’t ever underestimate Ireland.”

RDC topped the public vote ahead of two other dance acts – Xquisite and FKFT.

Presenter Lucy Kennedy, who won widespread praise for her hosting style, confirmed the show would return for a second year in 2019.

Earlier in the day judge Denise Van Outen had urged the public to have their say and make sure they voted for their favourite act.

Speaking on RTE Radio she said: “Don’t forget to vote. This show is for you, this is why we’ve made it. We made it so that you could have a new star.”

After the live spectacular at the Helix, which featured a performance from Paloma Faith, right, Denise flew straight to London for her next gig. The mum of one will judge the Dancing On Ice arena tour before taking a well-earned break. Speaking ahead of last night’s grand final great-granny Evelyn Williams said she had no hard feelings about exiting the talent contest. She won the first golden buzzer of the series with her performance of Send In The Clowns, but failed to get through the semi-final stages. The 81-year-old singer from Tallaght in South Dublin said: “I’m not sour. The ones that got through were all young people.”
