Amanda tells of ‘hard’ split with Freeman
Abbington AMANDA Abbington has opened up on her split from Martin Freeman after 16 years saying she feels “more myself than ever”.
The actor was her on-screen husband Dr Watson in BBC drama Sherlock and father to their two children.
They announced shortly before Christmas 2016 they had split.
In an interview with Red magazine, Abbington, 44, said: “I had thought Martin was the love of my life.
“This wasn’t meant to happen to us. We realised we had been papering over the cracks for a long time.
“The break-up was incredibly hard but it taught me so much about myself because I was forced to confront my worst fears.”
