14 dead after hockey team coach crash

AT least 14 people were killed when a coach carrying a junior hockey team collided with a lorry.

Half of the Humboldt Broncos team was wiped out in the horror crash on Highway 34, near Tisdale, Saskatchew­an, Canada.

Police said 28 people were on board, including the driver. The survivors were taken to hospital and three were in a critical condition last night.

The players, said to be aged 16 to 21, were heading for a match with Nipawin Hawks on Friday evening.

Team president Kevin Garinger said: “Our Broncos family is in shock as we try to come to grips with our incredible loss.”
