Mexicans to be detained, says Trump

US troops were being sent to the Mexican border today after President Donald Trump told states to stop illegal immigrants.

Trump wants to see 4,000 National Guard staff patrol the border until his proposed wall is built.

And he outlined plans to stop a ‘catch and release’ policy whereby illegal immigrants are freed until their case is heard.

Trump wants them detained and has demanded to know where they can be held.

The Texas National Guard said 250 officers would patrol the border by tomorrow, and California, New Mexico and Arizona are following suit.
