Taking steps to get fitter on holidays

-

WALKING holidays are soaring in popularity with older travellers who are keen to keep fit, a survey found.

An outdoors getaway is the second most popular break for the over-50s after city breaks and sightseeing trips to historic hotspots.

Travel firm HF Holidays said twice as many people now consider health and wellbeing when booking compared to a year ago.

Its poll found 47 per cent said walking relaxed them and 43 per cent said it got them closer to nature.

HF Holidays boss Jim Forward said: “It’s a reflection of growing numbers of people wanting to take more active leisure breaks.”
