This incredible venture into Norse mythology is a new beginning on a classic storyline.

The immortal Kratos is given another lease of life – this time at being a father to his son Atreus.

Here he attempts to teach Atreus how to become godlike, but in the process ends up learning more about his journey into being human.

Without giving too many spoilers away, Kratos now lives as a mortal, fighting to survive in this harsh environment. He uses his boomeranglike axe to freeze enemies before bashing them into oblivion. You’ll explore forests, mountains and caves in the pre-viking times. The visuals are incredible and this is one of the most enjoyable combat games I’ve played.

The only issue is a lack of any multiplayer option, but developers have perhaps rightly sacrificed this to make the single-player adventure that bit more immersive.
