Warning over bogus charity box collectors
PEOPLE have been warned to be vigilant for bogus charity collectors.
The fraudsters claim they are fundraising in aid of Pieta House and Dublin Fire Brigade.
But the collections are a scam and firefighters are advising people to beware.
A DFB statement said: “We’re aware of individuals collecting ‘donations’ in bars for a boxing match in aid of Pieta House.
“This is a scam. If approached let bar staff know to contact gardai. We never collect in pubs.”
There have also been warnings about fraudsters claiming to be working for the Government calling to homes in the capital.
