APPEAL AS MAN HELD FOR TRUCKER DEATH AFTER ‘ROAD RAGE’ INCIDENT

- BY GAVIN O’CALLAGHAN

GARDAI are appealing for witnesses after a lorry driver died of a possible heart attack.

One man was arrested and released without charge after a suspected altercation with a Romanian national, which occurred at Rosslare Europort, Co Wexford, at around 7pm on Friday.

Witnesses claimed the two men, both in their 50s, came face-to-face and appeared to strike each other before one fell backwards and hit his head.

Both drivers then got up and returned to their vehicles with one leaving the scene apparently unaware the other was found unresponsive in his vehicle.

Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the man dead at the scene.

A Garda spokesman said: “An assault is alleged to have occurred between two males at approximately 7pm in the Europort compound.

“One male in his 50s was been pronounced dead at the scene.”

Wexford councillor Ger Carthy added it came as a “massive shock”.
