Bomb teen’s run to thank miracle docs

- BY JOHN KELLY

Survivor Freya A GIRL who spent months in a wheelchair after the Manchester bomb is doing a charity run to thank doctors who helped her walk.

Freya Lewis, 15, was just nine feet from last May’s Ariana Grande concert attack. She suffered multiple fractures, lacerations and shrapnel burns.

Her best friend Neil Jones, 14, was among the 22 people who died.

Freya needed 60 hours of surgery at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital.

She will take part in next month’s Great Manchester Run junior event, while dad Nick, 52, runs the 10k.

They have so far raised £24,000 for the hospital.

Nick, of Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, said: “We’ve got Freya here with us because of RMCH. We’re incredibly proud of her.” Phillip Rasmussen
