HOLLYWOOD star Richard Gere is set to marry a Pretty Woman half his age next month.

Gear, 68, will tie the knot with 35-yearold Alejandra Silva – who hails him as “my hero”.

Respected Spanish newspaper ABC, which first revealed the three-year romance, said they would get hitched in a low-key ceremony in Washington DC on May 5. Nuptials were rumoured after Alejandra was seen wearing a diamond ring in Madrid last November. Asked about a 2018 wedding, she told journalists: “I don’t know, maybe.” Gere was married to supermodel Cindy Crawford, 52, from 1991-95 and to actress Carey Lowell, 57, Gear and love Alejandra from 2002 until 2016. Alejandra, who was educated at Leweston School in Dorset, is the daughter of a former vice president of Real Madrid and is rumoured to have had dated the club’s legendary Brazilian left back Roberto Carlos, 45.

She met Gere while divorcing first husband Govind Friedland, 46, the son of US mining magnate Robert Friedland.

Her relationship with the actor, star of An Officer and a Gentleman and Pretty Woman, became public in June 2015. They are understood to have met at an Italian hotel co-owned by Alejandra.

The pair are humanitarian activists and have attended events in Spain in aid of the RAIS Foundation homeless charity.

Alejandra, who lives in Madrid with son Albert, five, has said of Gere: “Richard has been my hero in real life. I was a little lost and meeting him gave sense to my life. I felt like someone was stretching out his hand and showing me the true path.”

Richard and Alejandra had no comment on wedding plans yesterday.
