SHEENS IS LEFT BROWN ‘N’ OUT

- GARETH WALKER

Hull K R 26 Wakefield v St Helens

LFAHULL KR captain Shaun Lunt faces three months on the sidelines after Kevin Brown steered Warrington to an controversial sixth straight win.

Lunt (above) was helped off in the opening stages and watched his side fall 20 points behind, including a Jack Hughes try that was strongly disputed by Rovers coach Tim Sheens.

The Australian said: “I was very, very disappointed with the try. I’ve got a picture of (Junior) Vaivai putting the ball down and the three officials have missed it.”

Sheens said Lunt had a suspected torn medial ligament that will be confirmed by a scan tomorrow. The game had looked over as a contest at half-time, with Hughes’ contentious second try leaving Rovers 20 points adrift.

Mike Cooper barged over for the home side before Brown laid on scores for back-rowers Hughes and Ben Currie. But Rovers roared back with three converted tries in the space of seven minutes.

Kicks from Chris Atkin and Danny Mcguire created scores for Maurice Blair and James Donaldson, before Vaivai broke clear and sent Atkin over for 22-20.

But that was as good as it got for Sheens’ side, as tries to Tom Lineham, Stefan Ratchford and Ryan Atkins sealed the Wolves’ win before Mcguire’s late consolation.

Wolves coach Steve Price said: “Good teams find a way to get it done and we didn’t panic, we stayed at it.

“I was very pleased with the outcome and scoring 40 points.”
