CARDIFF’S 10 MILLION REASONS TO GO UP...

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

NEIL WARNOCK’S Cardiff stars will share a whopping £10million bonus if they win promotion to the Premier League.

That’s the figure Bluebirds owner Vincent Tan has promised to split between his players should they take his club into the top flight.

And they took a step closer to cashing in with a 2-0 win at Norwich yesterday.

Warnock (above) has done an incredible job at the Cardiff City Stadium this season with few predicting they would be among the promotion hunting pack at the start of the campaign.

However, they have been in the automatic slots or top end of the play-off places throughout.

After a 2-0 win at Norwich yesterday, and Fulham only managing a home draw against Brentford, they are still confident of going up with only already promoted Wolves above them.

And should Cardiff follow Wolves up into the top flight, then Tan will hand Aron Gunnarsson, Sol Bamba, Junior Hoilett and Co a bonus just short of £350,000 each.

The club registered the hefty payouts with the EFL, as they are required to do by League rules, at the start of the season.

If Warnock’s men do go up, then it will be the eighth promotion of the manager’s impressive career.

The seven he has already won are with Scarborough, Notts County (twice), Huddersfield, Plymouth, Sheffield United and QPR. That’s a record number he shares with Jim Smith, Dave Bassett and Graham Taylor.

Promotion this season will put him out on his own and, after signing a new contract in February, Warnock spoke of his desire to get there.

He said: “It’s not money, for me it’s the opportunity to get that eighth promotion and if we don’t go up this year we still have a hell of a squad for next season.”

Warnock has managed three times in the Premier League with the Blades, QPR and Palace.
