Ban for Tesla M-way idiot on autopilot
A SMUG driver who put on his car’s autopilot on the motorway before climbing into the passenger seat has landed an 18-month ban.
Bhavesh Patel, 39, was driving his €80,000 Tesla S 60 on the M1 before switching seats, leaving the steering wheel and foot controls unmanned.
A passenger in another car filmed him as the white Telsa shot past. Footage was posted on social media then reported to police.
Patel told officers what he did on the M1 by Hemel Hempstead, Herts, last May was “silly”. But he said the car was capable of something “amazing” and he was just the “unlucky one who got caught”.
Patel, from Nottingham, appeared at St Albans Crown Court and admitted dangerous driving.
