NICKY’S FOUR TOO GOOD

ALTIOR spearheaded a fabulous four-timer for Nicky Henderson as he was crowned champion trainer for the fifth time at Sandown Park yesterday.

The three-time Cheltenham Festival hero took his tally over obstacles to 14, justifiying 2-11 favouritism under Nico de Boinville (below, with Henderson) in the Grade 1 bet365 Celebration Chase.

“What a campaign it’s been – we wouldn’t do what we do if it wasn’t for a great team,” said Henderson, also successful at the Esher track’s Jump Finale with Top Notch, Call Me Lord and Soul Emotion.

Step Back returned Mark and Sara Bradstock to the big-race limelight landing the bet365 Gold Cup.
