JUST DO IT FOR ARSENE

-

PEOPLE are suggesting Arsenal should forget about the game against Manchester United and throw everything in for the game in Madrid this week.

It just doesn’t work like that, though. You CAN’T have that attitude against such an opponent.

It would destroy their mood and momentum ahead of the biggest game Arsene Wenger (below) will face, in many ways.

He deserves to go out at Arsenal with a trophy and, even though people are now writing them off after that disappointing 1-1 at the Emirates, it’s far from impossible for them to win at Atletico.

Arsenal battered them in the first game. OK, Atletico were down to 10 men. But they were outplayed and Arsenal know they will have chances – the key is to take them.

Wenger deserves a huge performance and it would be wonderful if they took him to another European final.

But he can’t throw the towel in against United.

It will be tough, but, ideally, they will take a win to Madrid to give them confidence and hope.

Good luck to Arsenal – Wenger’s contribution to the game deserves it.

I FEEL unbelievably sad for the family of Sean Cox, the Liverpool fan who is fighting for his life in hospital after a cowardly attack before the game last week.

I know, from friends in Ireland, that he’s a really great man, who does an awful lot for the community where he lives.

I am praying there is good news this week. I also send my best wishes to his son, who was 21 last Friday.

I hope to speak to Sean when he comes through this... and to meet his family.

I’d also ask Liverpool fans to remember Sean in Rome and not only conduct themselves as well as they have all season in Europe – but also to take care.

Here’s to you, Sean, my thoughts are with you.
